Trade Show Report drinktec 2017

From the 11th to the 15th of September, drinktec Munich once again proved itself as the world's leading industry event as well as the most important platform for manufacturers and suppliers of the beverage and liquid food industry.

The 5-day event in Munich brought together more than 76.000 trade visitors from more than 170 countries and has surpassed all expectations. This year's drinktec was the most successful event in the 66-year history of the trade show with a significant visitor plus of 12%. The international relevance of the fair is not only shown in the high proportion of international visitors (67%) but above all in the variety of exhibitors and themes. In total, 1749 exhibitors from 80 different countries presented the latest trends, product developments and packaging and production solutions for the beverage industry. The special focus of this year’s trade show was on the brewing industry, especially on the Megatrend Craft, which was specially promoted in its own area "Home & Craft“. Not least because of the first cooperation with the SIMEI exhibition area, visitors from the wine, sparkling wine and spirits segment were also satisfied.

The visitors and exhibitors of drinktec were particularly impressed by the high degree of innovation and new developments that could be viewed and tasted in the Innovation Flow Lounge and New Beverage Concepts Area. More than 15 different beverage innovations were served at the New Bev Bar Area in Hall B1, including Bell's unique beverage concepts. Another highlight was the presentation of the World Beverage Innovation Award and the diverse range of networking platforms for visitors and exhibitors.

Bell presented itself on a 24 m² booth, centrally located in Hall B1 in the Innovation Flow Lounge.

Thanks to the highly motivated Bell team of Sales Managers, Marketing Experts, Flavorists and Application Managers from our headquarter in Leipzig and our international offices, the fair was a big success for Bell. Altogether, more than 140 meetings were held at our booth, with both – already existing customers and new, promising business contacts, allowing us to gain new ideas for developing our businesses and to put our customer relations on a strong footing.

Bell‘s innovative and extraordinary concepts were dedicated to the Megatrend „Inspired by Craft“. Especially the selection of refreshing Craft Lemonades convinced Bell’s visitors at the booth as well as the guests of the Innovation Flow Lounge Bar, not least because of their full, natural taste. With this concept, but also with a selected range of Craft Ciders, Bell demonstrated its strong expertise and high innovative power in the field of botanical extracts. Bell‘s exceptional competence in rounding off and enhancing beers and beer mixers was of particular interest for the brewing industry.

The next drinktec will take place at Munich exhibition centre in 2021.

Bell Flavors & Fragrances EMEA presents new beverage innovations at drinktec 2017

From 11 to 15 September 2017, the world's leading trade fair for the beverage and liquid food industry is opening its doors in Munich. For the second time in a row, Bell Flavors & Fragrances EMEA presents new trend concepts and flavour creations for innovative beverage products alongside a circle of 1450 exhibitors from 76 countries. Being one of the leading suppliers of flavours, botanical extracts and ingredient specialties, Bell once again showcases successful taste concepts and innovative ideas for future top market products in this year’s Innovation Area. Visitors are also invited to taste Bell’s outstanding product concepts at the Innovation Lounge Bar Area! This year Bell is focusing on the CRAFT megatrend, covering inspiring ideas for sparkling craft lemonades, refreshing flavours for cider, as well as innovative concepts for refining beer mixers. With these product concepts, Bell once again proves, that innovation and tradition are not mutually exclusive. 

Inspired by Craft

The term CRAFT can be associated with natural, authentic and preferably local, yet innovative products as well as traditional production processes. Through the combination of past and modernity, the shift towards more authenticity and nostalgia, consumer confidence is created leading to a more emotional connection with a market product. The Craft movement first started in the U.S. with a steadily growing number of small, independent breweries that developed refined beer creations using traditional production processes. This trend is no longer limited to the beer segment. Particularly in the area of soft drinks, or rather in the case of lemonades, more and more innovative, yet familiar products are being created. Craft is mainly associated with unique aromas, high quality ingredients and meticulous manufacturing procedures. Bell's natural flavours, botanical extracts and compounds help to create new beverages that are able to meet these high demands.

Bell Outstanding at Beautyworld 2017

From May 14 to 16, Bell EMEA captivated visitors with its latest fragrance developments at Beautyworld Middle East in Dubai. As the tradeshow grew by 13 per cent compared to last year’s edition, Bell’s stand also grew. With 40 square meters Bell was one of the biggest exhibitors of the German Pavilion. Bell’s Middle East sales team, perfumers and marketing experts presented more than 160 fine fragrances, among them 100 bestsellers and 60 new developments.

“Beautyworld is mandatory for Bell, since Middle East is one of the world’s strongest fine fragrance markets and the tradeshow is the largest beauty and wellness exhibition in the region. We had fruitful discussions with longtime customers, but also many interesting new encounters”, says Vice President Michael Heinz. More than 100 contacts from 40 different countries have been made during the show.

Product Presentation Revised

A new modern layout of the German Pavilion gave Bell the chance to further enhance its presence at the collective stand. Bell attracted many interested visitors by putting the well-known slogan “Scent up your life” at the center. Emotional pink and red colours standing out from the very clean and white design of the stand attracted everyone’s attention even from afar.

Manufacturers from the region were both interested in “European” type fragrances and in new oriental creations. A bottle of Bell’s most expensive fragrance “Soft Oud Attar” which was noticed by many not only due to its overwhelming spicy oriental scent, but also because of its amber colour, was nearly empty by the end of the show. There was also great interest in Bell’s perfume cream “Scent2Last” which promises extraordinary long lasting fragrance.

Core Market Middle East

According to Euromonitor International research, the wellness and spa market in the Middle East and Africa is forecast to grow 21.6 percent between 2015 and 2019 to reach $495 million by 2019. MEA consumers spent nearly $30 billion on fragrances, hair care, skin care, colour cosmetics, men's grooming, and other wellness products in 2016, 3.4 percent more than in 2015. Euromonitor also found that the UAE and Saudi Arabia are at the forefront of the market, with the UAE placed seventh globally in terms of per capita spend at $239 in 2016, up two places from 2015.

Beautyworld Middle East, the Middle East’s largest beauty and wellness exhibition, continues its double-digit growth trajectory. The 2017 edition, which took place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, attracted 42,012 visitors from 135 countries, a 13 percent growth from last year’s edition.

German Fragrance Knowhow for Oriental Markets

From May 14 to 16, Dubai will be centre of the fragrance world. At Beautyworld Middle East, more than 1.500 exhibitors will present their latest developments for beauty, hair, fragrance and well-being. One of the most traditional companies in the venue of Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre will be Bell Flavors & Fragrances. The Germany-based manufacturer of flavours and fragrances, botanical extracts and ingredient specialities will present its tailor-made fragrance creations for the Middle East at stand S1 E26 in the German Pavilion.

Starting operations in 1829, Bell’s founding firm is considered one of the oldest manufacturers in the flavour and fragrance industry. The scientific accomplishments developed at this company preceeded technologies still used in the industry. Today, Bell’s experts utilise this knowledge as the basis for their current developments internationally.

Bell EMEA started business in the Middle East more than ten years ago. “For us, the region is one of our most important growth markets. It is vibrant and consumers continue to increase spending, not just not just in fine perfumery, but also in personal and household care products. We offer innovative fragrances with high impact, great quality at affordable prices”, explains Vice President Michael Heinz.
